Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a 1960 Gretsch 6161 Country Gentleman 14 watt Tube Combo. This has been to our tech's lab where it received a complete service and is running in tip top condition with low noise, a perfectly dreamy tremolo, and that signature Gretsch tone.
She has the original Rola Speaker compliment with two 6x9's and a 4". All are original and working with no issues. The tube compliment 5Y3, 6973 (2), 12AX7 (3) yields a warm, round tone that breaks into a smooth bluesy overdrive as you turn up the volume. Both channels have a high and low input and both are very usable with the guitar. She's smaller and lighter than a Deluxe Reverb so that's a plus. The back panel has been replaced. Looks like a couple Mesa Boogie 12AX7s in the preamp section, GE 6973's power tubes, and a MB rectifier. All the Iron is original. About 25 pounds.
These amps were manufactured by Valco for Gretsch in the 50's and 60's. The repair detail is in the photos. Comes safely packed and fully insured.
