Northwest Vintage Guitars presents an early Masaru Kohno No 5 in remarkable condition.  These early hand built Kohnos are prized among collectors and players alike for their incredible workmanship and time tested designs.  In 1967 Masaru Kohno won the esteemed “Concours International de Quatuor a Cordes et Rencontres Musicales Internationales de Liege” in Belgium.  It's a big deal Luthier competition that gained him a worldwide following overnight.   His victory established credibility and credentials to Japanese luthiery and many luthiers became notable as a result of increased interest in MIJ classicals.

The tonewood selection is Indian Rosewood for the back and sides, select Spruce top.  All solid woods construction.  It's quite light at only 3.76 lbs.

The nut measures 52 mm, neck depth is .88"-1.05" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively.  The neck is straight and has optimum relief.  Very little fret wear.  No added cleats or repairs that we have found.   Action is 4 mm on the low E, 3.5 mm high E.  Notes ring clearly in all registers.   Fantastic tone.

All our guitars are deep cleaned and receive a professional service and setup.  You will not get a filthy guitar from us.  There are scattered nicks, dings, and scratches as pictured but it remains in excellent playable condition.   We offer a 7 day money-back return on all used guitars.
