Northwest Vintage Guitars brings you a Holy Grail of Vintage Yamahas in the FG-2500 12 String all solid wood hand made Jumbo from 1971.  The signature of Terry Nakamoto graces the inside of the soundhole.  Terry would later leave Yamaha and start his own guitar company.   Yamaha used only select lightweight solid woods for this line.  The non-pareil grade solid Ezo Spruce top has an amazingly tight, straight grain.  The solid select Brazilian Rosewood sides are sublime.  Top shelf Honduran Mahogany was used for the neck, and Ebony on the fretboard and bridge.  It's a 4.9 pound 12 string that rings loud and clear with an inspirational tonality.  Honestly, it's the best playing and sounding 12 string we've come across in a very very long time.

The nut measures 1.91", 1st fret depth is .95" and the 10th is 1.03".   It's a substantial C carve that has forgiveness in the shoulders and is easy to get around.  The frets have very little wear and it's difficult to show it's so little.  The setup is perfect, the action is low at 2.4mm, and notes are easy to fret up and down the fretboard.  A joy to play.

This guitar suffered a loose brace at some point and the top deformed slightly.  Our Luthier was able to reglue the brace, confirm stability, and set it up to play great.  There is a small sunken area in front of the bridge and a healthy rise behind the bridge.  Everything sets up stable.  The long runs on the high E and B have low breakover angle but don't sizzle or buzz.  Ideally, this could be rectified by either notching the Ebony bridge, or raising the action with a higher saddle and thus increasing the breakover angle.  The action is low now and some may prefer it higher so we opted not to hack the bridge.  It's an easy mod so if you want it, request it.  One thing for sure, it's sounds incredible and plays easy like Sunday moring.

Comes safely packed in the OHSC in the photos.
