Northwest Vintage Guitars is very proud to present this 1972 Fender Precision Bass with an amazing Joe Riggio aged, weather checked, and reliced Olympic White Nitrocellulose finish. Introduced in 1951, the Precision Bass took it's current split pickup form in 1957 and it has remained largely unchanged to the present day. The dark, striated Rosewood fretboard is sublime and the flamed maple neck is surely a bonus.
This example received this beautiful Olympic White aged and relic finish from Joe Riggio of Riggio Guitars in Tacoma, Washington. Joe is a master craftsman that produces very convincing relics and a line of hand made T, S, and J style solid bodies in limited numbers. The finish looks, feels, and presents like a 50 year old finish. It has fooled every person that picks it up. And it doesn't disappoint when played. Very easy playing, well balanced, and so very cool. You get that signature P Bass tonality with room filling lows to mix cutting mids while still delivering warm clarity. Simple elegance.
She weighs 8.42 lbs, 1.6" nut, 1.2"-1.3" fret depth, and the pickup reads 9.45 ohms. It's a U shape neck profile that fits like a glove and has a shoulder that eases as you venture up the neck. The frets exhibit moderate wear with approximately .035" fret height and no divots or dead spots. The truss rod is very responsive with plenty of room to adjust in either direction. Relief is currently set for optimum playability with low clean action that plays effortlessly and cleanly up and down the fretboard. The Rosewood fretboard presents striking oblique grain that sweeps diagonally up the neck.
The pickup and neck dates to 72, neck plate serial dates to late 71. The pots, pickups, knobs, pickguard, bridge, tuners, string retainer, nut, and strap pins all appear to be original. The thumb rest and pickup covers are not original. Someone added glow in the dark fret position markers to aid in those dim, dark clubs. It's a very nicely done pro job. There is an old heat and solder repair to the low E tuner as pictured. More pictures including gut shots and the case are on our website. Shipping to Non Con USA destinations will include a well padded gig bag, not the flight case in the photos unless buyer willing to pay for oversized overseas shipping.
Will come safely packed in the Forge model fight case by Anvil in the photos.
