Northwest Vintage Guitars is proud to present a vibey vintage Tokai PB-60 with a solid Sen Ash body and a dark Rosewood fretboard. These PB basses are killer knock offs of vintage Fender at a time when Fender was struggling with quality in their own products. The Tokais and other Japanise offerings had no gaping neck pockets, better paddle tuners, and very vintage sounding pickups that combined to give Fender a run for their money. It's products like this that led Fender to create Fender Japan in a "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" moment. Tokai eventually made Fender Japan products for Fender.
The neck has a great full C carve and the freshly polished frets exhibit very little fret wear. The nut measures 1.64", neck depth is .89"-.97" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. She is strung up with a fresh set of nickel 45-105 strings, intonated, and a pro setup. 9.1 lbs, comes packed in the vintage MIJ case in the photos.
Is a classic P Bass room filling tone. But it can clean up nicely and get some articulation for the honky tonk. You can take her to town, to the jam, or to church. The vintage patina is perfect for any occasion.
There is a replaced tone pot and possibly a Volume pot but everything works as it should. The knobs are new, non-original replacements. It's not known if the black/red/black 3 ply pickguard is original, but it's cool. The Pickup is consistent with the PB model pickups with blue tape wrap. There is a nice patina with scattered dents, dings, and sctaches. Paint fills, peeling finsh, and polish marks. All Pictured.
