Tokai has been making top tier Les Paul styled Love Rock guitars in Japan for decades and they've forged a solid reputation for building some of the best Les Pauls in the world. This is their most popular model featuring solid flamed Maple tops, solid 2 piece Mahogany bodies, and one piece Mahogany necks. All hide glue construction. And this one sports a striking deep flamed Maple top with a delicious Lemon Burst finish. It possesses a bold, chirpy acoustic quality when played unplugged. The Vintage PAF MK2-S Tokai proprietary pickups are almost legendary at this point. The bridge measures 14.4 ohms and has a warm but clear high end paired with an authoratative midrange bark when pushed. It screams Rock and Roll. The neck measures 9.3 ohms and carries the woody, open, clear highs of a PAF and the tone drenched lows that have a life of it's own. Sustain for days, a perfect setup and intonation helps the notes bloom.
The nut measures a very vintage 1.73", 1st fret depth is .91" growing to .98" at the 12th fret on a Vintage Medium U Carve and an 11.8" radius. It's not a baseball bat and there's forgiveness in the shoulders so it fits the hand well. It's loaded with vintage appointments; the vintage Kluson style tuners, 18 degree headstock angle, ABR-1 style Bridge, amber catalin style togle switch, vintage amber top hat knobs, and the standard 2V 2T 50's wiring. Everything you need and nothing you don't. 9.6 lbs. Comes safely packed in the original padded Gig Bag in the photos. No disappointments.
