Northwest Vintage Guitars is stoked to bring you a super light Kawai Rockoon RHB-42 Bass from 1989-90. It's a 32" scale model made collaboratively with Schaller of Germany. Not a common find in America that's for sure. As Kawai said at the time, "Rockoon is the high performance guitar created by the skilled and uncompromising craftsmanship of Kawai."
She's svelty and rumbly at only 6.7 perfectly balanced pounds. The ergonomically designed Basswood body is very resonant and vibrates in your hand. The rock maple neck with Rosewood fretboard are setup for optimum relief and performance. It's no surprise the Kawai PJ-S Pickups sound fantastic since Kawai rocks their pickups. The neck has a Medium C neck that measures .81" at the first fret and .94" at the 12th. The back of the neck is relatively smooth sans a couple indentations that are hard to detect around the 6th fret area. It's a smooth player with a responsive truss rod that turns easy either direction and is currently set for optimum relief. And we must mention the funky case with it's Samsonite Briefcase styling and plush yellow lining. She's got a few bumps and bruises, but she wears them well and she is ready to rock. Knobs are not original.
