Northwest Vintage Guitars brings you an anomaly of Fender Reissues - A 50's Reissue Telecaster made in Japan by Fujigen, but marketed and sold in the USA. 1996 was a busy year for Fender as they were really into celebrating the 50th anniversary of the company. This model is listed in the Fender American catalogs, but not in the Fender Japan Catalogs. Tonewood selections include a Basswood body mated to a maple neck and this one is a resonant one. Weighing in at only 7.7 lbs, it has a pronounced upper midrange clarity when played unplugged. And the best part is the V neck.
The V neck profile and the 2 tone sunburst finish point specifically to 1956 when both those specs existed in the Fender lineup. The V profile starts at .94" and tops out at .99" at the halfway point. Can't say enough about this neck. If you've ever played a 50's V Neck, it's very recognizable once you've had it in your hand and this one is it. The 1.66" nut, 21 Vintage spec frets, vintage Kluson style tuners, and deep headstock offset all confirm the 50's specs. There's a standard 3 way, 1V, 1T with standard wiring and no dark curcuit. The pickups are the Fender Japan ST Vintage winds and they don't disappoint with loads of spank and sparkle. It's 100% original and very hard to find. There are some finish fills as pictured, little fretwear on freshly polished frets, and a fresh set of nickel 10-46 strings made right here in the good 'ol USA.
