Northwest Vintage Guitars is very proud to present a honey of a 2007 R7 Gold Top from Gibson's Custom Shop. 2007 marks the return of Honduran Mahogany and a bunch of Madagascar Rosewood to the Custom Shop offerings. Collectors know that 2007 is a special year for the Custom Shop with the return of premium woods and a special procurement of Madagascar Rosewood that made it into many guitars that year until the shipment ran out. This is one of those lucky ones that got the Maddy. There's plenty to admire about this one; the natural VOS Nitrocellulose finish, the dark Rosewood freboard, or the iconic and rare black on gold combo.
We swapped in a pair of later Custombuckers and they don't disappoint. They are simply the best. Articulate, full, clear....everything. The one piece Honduran Mahogany Slab body is resonant and well balanced. Most folks notice that althought the neck is .89"-1.0', the C carve isn't as full as most R7's with a little more forgiveness in the shoulders. No Neck pocket or nut area cracks.
It's a great player with some wear starting to show on a few frets, there's a slightly bent tuner, scattered small dents and scratches, and a filled screw hole under the pickguard bracket mount on the lower side of the guitar that is completely covered by the bracket. 9.5 lbs. Comes safely packed in the case in the photos with no COA and no additional accessories. The rings, pickguard, and braket are from Stew Mac. Knobs are an OEM replacement.
