Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a 1985 Jose Ramirez Model 1a Concepcion No5 with a solid Cedar top, Solid Indian Rosewood Back, and plate Laminate Indian Rosewood sides. The Ramirez 1a is considered the gold standard of classical concert guitars and many other brands copy it and come close, but it's not a 1a. Solid Spanish Cedar neck and high quality materials all the way around. Comes safely packed in the 70's Yamaha case in the photos.
The nut measures 52 mm, neck depth is 27 mm at the 1st fret. It's the classic flat D profile with plenty of purchase for that properly positioned thumb. 664mm scale, flat radius, 3.2 lbs. The neck is straight and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. There are a few professional repairs that ensure this showpiece will have a long life of service. A plate cleat was added under the fretboard extension. Someone has radiused the fretboard and installed jumbo frets so our Master Luthier removed the fretboard, planed it flat, added an Ebony underlayment, reinstalled it on the neck and re-fretted it with appropriate size frets. Replacement tuners and a small repaired crack between the old tuner mounting screws - all repaired and hidden under the new tuners. It has perfect action at just under 4 mm and a new bone saddle and but. There are a few scratches, dings, and dents as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing.
