Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a great sounding and playing 1976 Martin D28 Dreadnought Acoustic with the original "Steal me" hard case in perfect working order. Great weather checking and patina abound on this fantastic playing and sounding instrument. It's a clear and crisp voice with a well balanced midrange and a warm and tight bass. The tight grained solid Sitka Spruce top has interesting silking and intimate fine flaming. The solid Indian Rosewood sides and back have no cracks or repairs. Really a top tier professional Dreadnought.
The nut measures 1.69", neck depth is .87"-1.12" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It has that vintage Martin V neck profile that feel amazing in the hand. The neck is straight with relief currently offering optimum playability. Serial 382495 places this in the 1976 production run. This one did not suffer from the improper bridge positioning and setup maladies common to Martins of this era. There are a few scratches, dings, and dents as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing.
Our Master Luthier performed some needed repairs including 3 relaired and cleated top cracks, a re-glued bridge, minor binding repair, and a few re-glued braces. The frets are in great shape having received a level, crown and polish. It plays perfectly with no buzzing or issues, perfect action, and good saddle height. In addition, this beauty has received a professional setup and cleaning. No disappointments.
