Northwest Vintage Guitars loves the MJT Relics so when we found this 1975 Gibson '55 Special Reissue with the MJT Custom treatment, we had to have it.  They use 100% Nitrocellulose Lacquer and top notch aging techniques to create some of the most convincing relics out there.  And this beauty still has the original clear bobbin P-90s that shine.

The frets are in great shape with good crown and height left.  The measure up as .105" Medium Jumbo and have a generous .035" height with no significant flat spots, divots, or dead spots.  The nut measures 1.70", the fret depth is .82"-1.02" on a "C" shaped carve with moderate shoulders.  Action is low at 1.5mm low E and 1.3mm high E. The truss rod turns easily in both directions and is currently adjusted for optimum relief and playability.   She's not the heaviest Norlin at 8.4 lbs.  Very managable for a big girl.

MJT stripped the old poly finish everywhere except the headstock face.  A thin application of 100% Nitrocellulose Lacquer was then cured, aged, and reliced.  Simply amazing.  It looks like the guitar was loved and played for 50 years.  Realistic relics are a thing of beauty, a work of art.

The 70's '55 Les Paul Special reissue was one of the Norlin era reissues from Kalamazoo that were considered broadly accurate.  The initial 1974 version featured a wrap tailpiece, but later versions like this had the improved bridge and tailpiece.  It originally had pickup surrounds held down with small nails.  You get 2V, 2T, and two clear bobbin Gibson P-90's that read 7.42 ohms at the bridge and 7.39 at the neck.  It's a good one.  It sings and sustains and sounds like a great P90 should sound.  They are aggressive and dynamic when dimed.  Clean and almost Tele-like when you dial it back.

Comes safely packed in the later Gen 3 Chainsaw case with no broken hinges or latches and the "Gibson" badge firmly attaced.
