Northwest Vintage Guitars is proud to bring you a "The Ventures" model 65 Super Custom Mosrite by Kurokumo in Japan sometime in the last 25 years or so. It's 100% original and and in excellent, near mint condition. The Kurokumo made Mosrites were made for a short time off and on through history and at one time they provides bodied for other Mosrite manufaturers. These versions of The Ventures model are highly sought after due to their masterful construction, top notch materials, authenticity, and the pickups.
The aluminum nut measures 1.6" on a zero fret construction as always. It's a thin C carve neck that measures .78" at the 1st fret and .83" at the 12th fret. It's wonderfully thin, but not too much so with enough shoulder to fill the hand comfortably. You get all the vintage appointments; the double line knobs, the baton switch tip, the vintage Kluson style tuners, and the Vibromute Tremolo. It's the complete package at 8.4 well balanced and resonant pounds. The deep German carved body (when compared to other Mosrites) is basswood and the fretboard is a luxurious dark rosewood with delicate little fretmarkers and vintage .80" wide medium frets with a fresh polish and exhibiting very little fret wear. The neck is straight and the truss rod turns easily in both directions. Currently set up with nickel 10-46 strings and perfectly intonated.
The pickups are some of the best to ever grace a Venture's model. They read 7.83 ohms at the neck and 9.09 ohms at the bridge. They are snappy and articulate without being bland or muddy like many of the reissues through the years. Great Classic Mosrite tone. It all comes safely packed in the Mosrite branded Gig Bag in the photos. There is a small neck pocket finish crack as pictured.
