Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a killer player grade vintage dreadnought in this Tama TG120 with a solid German Alpine Spruce top, and a solid Rosewood back and sides. Ibanez wanted to expand their impact and presence in the 70's acoustic market and their Tama acoustic line was made by Tama Seisakusho Co. in Aichi, Japan. Hand made quality instruments that are valued in today's market. The TG-120 was the top of the line model from 1973-1975. In fact, it was marketed as a "Limited Edition" in their earliest brochures. She's one of those guitars that got played because it's just so good. It has a neck crack that we were able to get ample amounts of glue in and clamp it up tightly. Its solid. Tuners are replacements.
The TG120 features a dreadnought body with solid alpine spruce top bound with maple bindig on solid rosewood back and sides. The round soundhole is trimmed with wooden multi-line rosette and a tortoise pickguard. The mahogany neck has a 20-fret ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl dots position markers and a rosewood headstock. Components include a bone saddle in an adjustable ebony bridge, a bone nut, and replacement machine heads.
It's a very vintage feeling deep soft V neck profile and the vestigial "bird beak" diamond hump. The nut measures 1.74", neck depth is .87"-.99" at the 1st and 12th fret respectively. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. Even though there are numerous crack repairs, cleats and pick wear, it has the openess and full tonal expression typical of solid wood construction. The crack repairs are professionally done with hide glue and cleats where needed. This would make a great road axe or shop dog. Comes safely packed in the vintage hard shell case in the photos.
There are a lot of dings, dents, scratches, nicks and other patina as pictured. She's a great player though. Neck crack repair is solid.
