Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a very rare and beautiful Yamaha AE18 Hollobody Jazz box L5 type guitar with a hard case. These were only made from 1972-1976 which makes this an anomaly with a 1981 serial number. It's a double bound Maple body with a Spruce top and a beautiful Maple neck with some birdseye. Ebony fretboard with 20 frets and Ivoroid inlays. 2V, 2T and a 3way toggle to control the Yamaha proprietary pickups described as "new powerful pickups" in Yamaha's catalog. They read 7.63k ohms at the neck and 7.82k ohms at the bridge and sound the part of the Jazz box it's intended to be.
The nut measures 1.68", neck depth is .88"-.97" at the 1st and 10th frets respectively. It's a nice comfy full C profile. 25.5" scale, 12" radius, 8.11 lbs. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. The frets have been leveled, crowned and polished for a great playing experience. Freshly strung with nickel 10-46 strings and accurately intonated. There are a few scratches, dings, and dents as pictured. The front strap button is absent. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing. Comes safely packed and fully insured in the hard case in the photos.
