Northwest Vintage Guitars bring you a blast from the past. It's a Yamaha Broad Bass BB800 from 1978 in 100% original condition. Yamaha dubbed these "the most expansive bass yet." It's a no nonsense 1V, 1T P Bass design with a solid Alder body and a Maple neck with an Indian Rosewood fretboard. Yamaha also made their own die cast tailpieces with the fancy scroll. Yamaha has long been called "Gibson of Japan" for a very good reason; they are the best manufaturer in Japan.
The nut measures 1.7", first fret depth is .83", and .90" at the 12th on a C carve that gets flatter in the middle as you travel up the fretboard. It's very accessible and very familiar. The W Pole Pickup delivers a warm attack and room filling lows. A lot like a P Bass. She's well balanced and packed with sustain at 9.4 lbs. The freshly polished frets exhibit some wear and have about 60% remaining. It currently plays cleanly and effortlessly up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or excessive buzzing. Currently strung with Thomastik Infield strings. No case included.
