Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a clean Yamaha Custom Shop GC-5M by Hiroshi Harada from 1978.  This is the 658 mm scale version with a Solid Spruce top and Laminated Indian Rosewood back and sides, Ebony fretboard, and a Honduran Mahogany neck.  The back and sides are plate laminate consisting of two plates of Indian Rosewood, not the 3 layer sandwich we associate with laminates in later years.  This is one of the most affordable Yamaha Custom Shop guitars available from this time and Hiroshi Harada was one of the most skilled and experienced luthiers in Yamaha's Custom Shop.

The nut measures 52mm, neck depth is 22.2 mm-26 mm at the 1st and 10th frets respectively.  It's a Classical D carve with a flat back offering ample purchase for the anchor point.  The neck is straight, and the entire guitar has been deep cleaned.   It is freshly strung with D'Adarrio Pro Arte EJ46-3D hard Tension strings and needs nothing.  Action is 3.8mm on the low E and 3.7 mm on the high E with 3mm saddle height and ample breakover angle.  There are a few scratches, dings, and dents as pictured.  It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing.  Comes safely packed and fully insured in the hard case in the photos.
