Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a honey of a 1971-72 Yamaha Red Label FG500 in excellent playable condition. These early Red Labels have a reputation of great sounding dreadnoughts, and the FG500 is the top of the line. it features a solid spruce top and high quality Mahogany laminates sides. It's lightly braced and expertly constructed with hot hide glue giving it a bold open tonality that compares to guitars twice the price. The woods have had over 50 years to age and dry and it sounds incredible.
The nut measures 44 mm, neck depth is.93"-1.18" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It's a very comfy medium C profile that beefs up nicely up the fretboard. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. The bridge has been slotted to increase breakover angle and the action is a very playable 2.8mm on the low E, 2.3 on the high E and the saddle at 1 mm. Very playable with new Phosphor Bronze D'Addario 12-53's and freshly polished frets with very little wear. There are a few scratches, dings, and dents as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing.
