Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a mojo soaked 1974 Telecaster Custom in Mocha! It's so brown. This tidy package includes the original Tolex case, ashtray bridge cover, owner's manual, and inspection tag. It came to us with it's prior refret worn to the nubs. We elected to Refret the guitar with vintage med tall 6105 frets and retain all the patina and lacquer chipping on the fretboard and neck. It was a great choice and we love the look. It plays cleanly and effortlessly on the fresh frets and a set of new nickel 10s. These 70's Tele Customs can disappoint as we can attest, but this one is a gem with a snappy and powerful original bridge pickup paired with the original warm and articulate CuNiFe Wide Range Humbucker. And it's only 7.44 lbs! And it looks like a million bucks.
The nut measures 1.62", neck depth is .82"-.87" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. 25.5" Scale, 935" radius. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability.
The finish on the body and headstock is original. It's possible that the fretboard was refinished when the previous refret took place. There are scattered nicks, dings, scratches, and finish wear as pictured. It just adds to the overall vintage natural relic and we love it. And it's only 7.44 lbs. That's almost unheard of in a 70's Tele.
