Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a super rare Louis Johnson Trekker bass by Dave Bunker made in the USA. These super rare basses feature a Nitrocellulose Lacquer finished Maple body and a Maple neck with the "Tension Free" truss rod system made specifically for optimum slap bass playability. These were made in Utah and most were sold in Las Vegas where Mr Johnson lived. Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson played on Michael Jackson's Thriller album and many other great artists. He pioneered a heavy thumb slap technique that's been passed down through the like of Flea and others. These are unmarked pickups and not the Seymour Duncans that graced many of these basses. The have a great PJ tonality and the neck reads 7.59k ohms while the bridge comes in at 6.53k ohms. Way more usable than the hot SDs.
The nut measures 1.63", neck depth is .79"-.85" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It's a very navigable C profile. 34" scale, 12" radius, 10.7 lbs. Freshly strung and accurately intonated on leveled, crowned and polished frets. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. Action is set at 2.0mm and 1.8mm. There are a few scratches, dings, and dents as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing. Comes safely packed in the gig bag in the photos.
