Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a one of a kind Mosrite built Dobro from the estate of Jimmy "Spider" Wilson via Gruhn's in Nashville.  Jimmy Wilson was a Nashville native and a celebrated and revered 53 year member of the Grand Ole Opry.  He also had a long and storied studio career laying down tracks for legendary artists like Ray Price, Dolly Parton, Marty Robbins, and Faron Young, among many others.  From 1953-2006, Jimmy Wilson was a staff artist at the Opry and his dueling guitars with Howard Rhoton defined a new sound that set them apart.  Chris Scruggs said, " “No one ever had quite that sound before and I've never heard it the same since."

Enter Semie Moseley at Mosrite guitars in California.  Semie was a consummate salesman and promoter.  His name inlays can be seen on Famous Mosrite Guitars played by popular artists like Joe Maphis and The Collins Kids.  His stylistic "Mother of Frisbee" fretboard inlays are a dead giveaway of Semie's work.  I'll bet he jumped at the chance to put Jimmy's name on the Mosrite built Dobro and getting his product in front of millions of fans.

The nut measures 1.77", neck depth is .80"-.98" at the 1st and 11th frets respectively. It's a thin C profile with very little shoulder.   The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability.  There is very little fret wear.  The original electronics function perfectly.  The cone on these models is glued in place and it features the handy neck tilt adjustment.  We've reset the spider and it plays rattle-free.  It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing.  The tone is a great mix of mellow wood tones from the African Mahogany construction and the Resonator with a pickup.  It's a very usable, recordable, and unique Dobro.  Comes safely packed in the Heritage Case in the photos.
