Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a clean and one of one Fender Customer Order Made in Japan at the Fujigen plant in 1993. This bass was ordered and built to the customer's specifications and a couple mods have made it even better. The KK-2 designation starts with a walnut stained solid Ash body, a Canadian Maple neck, and a slab Rosewood fretboard with 20 Vintage Spec frets. A wood laminate pickguard was added and the Sonic Original Turbo J-Bass II electronics were fitted at some point. The manufacturer says The "Turbo J Bass" is an original circuit that transforms a standard Jazz Bass into a bass with powerful, powerful tone when you need it most, without altering its appearance or compromising its original sound. It converts the Jazz Bass's two single-coil pickups into a single humbucking pickup. It's not a preamp, so no batteries are required. When installed, the tone knob becomes a push-pull switch; as shown in the diagram on the right, it's in its normal position when pressed down and in its turbo mode when pulled up. Of course, turning it also functions as a tone control. The jack uses a newly developed multi-contact pure tone control. (The photo above shows the model before the change.) The Turbo J Bass 2 also features a full-up potentiometer for the volume and tone controls, bypassing the circuit when turned up to full, improving clarity. These are combined with a set of very expressive unmarked pickups that read 16.8k ohms at the neck and 7.5 at the bridge.
The nut measures 1.55", neck depth is .83"-.98" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It starts as a C profile and end up a D up in the dusty area. 34" scale, 7.25" radius, 10.2 lbs. Freshly strung and accurately intonated with 45-105 Nickel Roundwounds on leveled, crowned and polished frets. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. There are very few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing. Comes safely packed in the padded gig bag in the photos.
