Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a rare hand made Kawai G-200 Classical Guitar with a 650mm scale and a solid thin Cedar top. The Kawai Company is known for their pianos and electronic keyboards as well as their fantastic build quality. This was made in Hamamatsu, Japan where Yamaha was cranking out thousands of guitars a day and there was an ample supply of qualified luthiers in the area. Kawai capitalized on the abundance of talent in the area to construct a line of guitars in the 70's. The G-200 features a thin solid Cedar top and laminate rosewood back and sides. The fretboard is ebonized Rosewood.
The nut measures 52mm, neck depth is 22.7mm-27.2 at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It's a classical D profile. Freshly strung and accurately intonated with American made medium tension nylon strings. The neck is straight and the relief currently provides optimum playability. Action is at 4.5mm-3.9mm. There are a few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots. These regularly trade in the $1,000 USD range but were clearing this out at a steep discount. There is a heel separation that hasn't moved since arriving here in our shop. There is blushing under the finish. Comes safely packed in the tattered vintage case with one broken latch in the photos.
