Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a rare and delightful Saburo Nogami Concert Classical model C-108V with all solid woods from the 1970's. Saburo Nogami was an apprentice to Masaru Khono starting in 1959 and eventually setting up his own shop in the early 70's. He also worked with Kazuo Yairi and supervised production for some of the busiest factories in Japan. Let's just say he knows his stuff. This one really has a great voice with clear bell-like trebles ringing out in all registers along with a pronouced warmth in the bottom end. 650mm scale, 51mm nut, only 3.52 lbs. Solid Ezo Spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood sides and back, a Mahogany neck and 5 fan bracing. Comes safely packed in the period correct hard case in the photos.
Neck depth is 21mm-23mm at the 1st and 10th frets respectively. Freshly strung with D'Addario Pro Arte Medium tension strings. The neck is straight, the frets are clean and exhibit almost no wear. There are a few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots. Our luthier performed some much needed repairs including a back brace glue-up, a top crack near the extension was glued up and a cross brace added to shore up the entire area, bridge re-glued, and a fingerboard crack addressed. We've acclimated it in a humidity controlled room and it's very stable.
