Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a super cool and super clean 1977 Yamaha FG-401W Jumbo Western guitar. This is one of the better 70's Yamahas with a nice even tonality, clear trebled and warm low end with a balanced midrange. 25" scale, 12" radius, 4.99 lbs. It's an all tonewood 3 ply Spruce top, laminate Rosewood back and sides, and a Mahogany neck with a bound Rosewood fretboard and fancy inlays. It's a classy looker that's ready for a night on the town or an afternoon at the beach. Comes safely packed and fully insured in the period correct Yamaha hard case in the photos.
The nut measures 1.72", neck depth is .89"-1.00" at the 1st and 10th frets respectively. It's a very vintage feeling V profile that feels great in the hand. Freshly strung with D'Addario 12-53 Bronze strings and the action at 5/64"-6/64" with ample saddle height at 1/8". The frets are level and polished, the fretboard is cleaned and conditioned. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. There are a few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots.
