Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a rare early 70's made in Japan Chaki Southern Jumbo model W-3.  It's got all solid woods with a Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, and a ornately adorned and bound Rosewood fretboard.  Chaki was founded in Kyoto, Japan by Junpei Chaki in 1947 and started off making stand up basses.  They eventually expanded to include archtop guitars and then flat tops.  Master luthier Shiro Tsuji joined the company in the late 60's and oversaw production of their 70's guitars.  They are known for their excellent tonality, top tier woods, and expert design.  25" scale, zero fret, 12" radius, and 5.06 lbs.   Comes safely packed and fully insured in the vintage Alvarez case in the photos.

The nut measures 1.67", neck depth is .87"-.95" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively.  The neck is a C profile with a deliberately rolled edge that makes it feel narrower than it is.  Freshly strung and with D'Addario 12-53 Bronze strings and perfect factory spec action at 2.5mm-2.0mm.  The saddle is low but has ample breakover angle.  The frets are clean, level, and dressed and the fretboard is clean and conditioned.  The neck is straight, the non original truss rod nut is very tight but can turn in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability.  There are a few scratches and dings as pictured.  It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots.   There is a glued crack through the treble side tuners that has been glued solid.  The zero fret has been replaced.  The truss rod cover is not original.
