Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a mean and clean 1986 Yamaha SFX-1 Super Flighter. This was the top of the line Super Flighter in the late 80's and this one plays like butter on freshly crowned and polished frets. This is the guitar of choice for Kyoji Yamamoto (Bow Wow / Vow Wow). They feature the proprietary Yamaha Rocking Magic II trem system and a pair of the Yamaha Power Guerilla humbuckers. A DiMarzio DP408 stacked Humbucker has been professionally added to the middle position with a very well done routing job. The battery operated boost circuit has been removed. You get a push/pull volume pot to activate the middle pickup, a master tone and a master 3 way toggle for the humbuckers. Each Humbucker has a dedicated 3 way toggle to engage a split and a parallel setting. The humbuckers read 8.19k ohms at the neck and 8.3k at the bridge.
The nut measures 1.63", neck depth is .87"-.95" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It's a medium C profile that most folks will find agreeable. 24.75" scale, 14" radius, 9.74 lbs. Freshly strung and accurately intonated with D'Adarrio 10-46 nickel strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. There are a few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots or unwarranted buzzing. Comes safely packed and fully insured in the faux leather gig bag in the photos.
