Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a rare early Masaru Kohno Concert Classical made with all solid woods including a Spruce top and solid Brazilian Rosewood sides and back. It rings like a bell and the notes are very well defined. These early Kohno builds are that of legend. This was crafted in Japan seven years before he won worldwide fame by winning the Gold Medal at the prestigious Elizabeth's Concourse International Guitar Building Competition in Belgium. In 1959, Kohno studied in Spain under master luthier Arcángel Fernández so this guitar was built shortly after his return. 650mm scale, only 3.2 lbs. Comes safely packed and fully insured in the vintage hard case in the photos with a repaired latch.
The nut measures 1.98", neck depth is .84"-1.2" at the 1st and 10th frets respectively. Freshly strung with D'Addario Pro Arte normal tension strings. Action is at 3.4 mm-3.1 mm. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief currently offering optimum playability. Our Master Luthier performed a professional re-fret and the fretboard is clean and conditioned. There are a few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots.
