Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a well voiced Gibson Southern Jumbo from their Bozeman Custom Shop. We've had a few of these through the shp this year and this is the best sounding one of the bunch with a punchy midrange, warm low end and clear highs that don't overwhelm. These run $5,000 US today. As is the case with these, the sides are not reinforced with cleats from the factory and are prone to splitting. This one had that on the lower bout so we enlisted our luthier to repair the split and install cleats all the way around to prevent future issues. We are relieved that it didn't harm the tone at all and may have actually given a tighter response. And it has an unmarked under saddle pickup with a battery. Comes safely packed in the original hard case in the photos.
The nut measures 1.73", neck depth is .80"-.99" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It's not a club or baseball bat - more of a 60's C profile. Freshly strung with D'Addario Bronze 12-53 strings and factory spec 6/64"-4/64" action and good saddle height. The frets have been leveled, crowned and polished. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. There are a few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots.
