Northwest Vintage Guitars presents a Martin Licensed copy of a Martin D-28. Beginning in the early 70's, Martin and Tokai formed a partnership where Tokai was initially tasked with making acoustic parts for assembly in Nazareth at the Martin USA facility. Tokai was also granted license to produce Martin copies exclusively for the Japanese domestic market only under the Cat's Eye brand. These vintage guitars are now being sold all over the world due to their expert design and craftsmanship and excellent value. And this one is one heck of a bargain due to the pro headstock repair. We were able to get it all aligned and glued up solid - it's not going anywhere. High quality solid spruce top, semi solid premium Rosewood back and sides, and a Mahogany neck. 25.4" scale, 14" radius, 4.29 lbs. The frets are in great shape and have almost all of their life left in them. Comes safely packed in the hard case in the photos.
The nut measures 1.68", neck depth is .88"-.98" at the 1st and 10th frets respectively. It's a wonderful V profile that feels very authentic. Freshly strung and accurately intonated with Bronze 12-53 strings and factory spec 6/64"-4/64" and adequate saddle height. No neck reset neccessary anytime soon. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. There are a few scratches and dings as pictured. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots.
